Les Hogg
Modern Trolleybuses
Report - Frank Long

Part Two of Les Hogg’s Czechoslovaklan tour commenced with a video which proved to be first-class entertainment, he took a lot of good colourful shots of the transport system over there. We had lots of bendy trolleybuses, some of which were dual mode (diesel as well as electric) And then there were lots of motorbuses all of which were smart and clean looking and this impression was repeated when we saw the interiors.

Las explained about the fare paying systems and also the destination displays. There was a destination display Inside the vehicle which gave the next stop coming up. Trams were not ignored as we were shown views of the tram network. That concluded Less presentation end we say thank you and look forward to more footage at a later date.

We then watched a video about Rolls Royce and the company’s founder’s lives of achievements. The story was narrated by the film’s presenter sat in a drawing room and was illustrated by views of cars and planes etc. The whole film was very enjoyable and we offer our thanks to David Qyston for sending the video along.

However, the already full’ evening was not over for we were treated to a London Transport film showing various aspects of this famous organisation from the thirties to the early sixties. It was very good indeed and worthy of a wider audience. We were running well past our usual finishing time and by the close of the film nearly half the audience had departed to catch their buses, etc. I personally think that we should conclude no later than 9 45pm and would appreciate members’ views on the subject.
