David Tidswell
The Isle of Man TT Races
Report - J.G.Virco
Our good friend David Tidswell kindly offered to screen cine film he took some forty years ago The Isle of Man TT races were featured Amongst the footage were shots of various dangerous bends, particularly the famous Ramsey hairpin bend. Many fatalities occurred here. Prior to which came the Vincent owner club at Cadwell Park V.M.C C. road races at that venue, Esholt sprints, Flockton Farm and Harewood speed hill climb Morgan cars were also seen, as well as Baltings down car speed hill climbs.
It was generally remarked upon the quality and sharpness of colour to which David said the secret of keeping film is in cans — boxed - and in drawers, in natural conditions and not to put the film too often through the projector( to prevent intense light from fading it) And always show just enough footage and leave people wanting more.
David has promised us that he will be back next AGM, railways, aircraft and town and cityscapes that have long disappeared including Bradford and Wardley’s grand design. The list is too numerous but we will select a good film or slideshow.
