Tony Wilson & Paul Wooding
Archive Cine Film
Report - Gary Wilkinson
Tony Wilson and Paul Wooding never fail to interest and delight their audience and this evening was no exception when they presented their latest trawl through their archives. Our first film was of Bradford’s trolleybuses which appeared to be around the closure time and round the Duckworth Lane depot. We also saw the sad sight of the overhead being taken down and cut up as well as poles being removed (burnt off at ground level). We also saw a couple of shots of Bradford single-decker motorbuses – a rare sight at that time.
The second film had been taken by Tony on the Worth Valley Railway, filmed throughout the changing seasons and with some excellent snow scenes. We saw interesting views of stations with a varied mix of locos including the railcar. We then turned to our third film of the evening which had the luxury of sound. A trip up the Snowdon Mountain Railway showed how, too often, the mist obscured the fantastic views. Sound also provided an accompaniment to our fourth film as we took a trip to Scarborough on the Flying Scotsman going round the Harrogate loop to York and on to our destination.
To round off the evening, an acquired film was screened featuring British rail – covering the whole country – starting at the Forth Bridge. It was a most enjoyable evening and once again, a big thankyou to Tony and Paul.
